Built on a peninsula formed by the harbours - Bodrum - with its quaint narrow streets is famous for its castle and its world renowned dazzling white houses and tombs. One of the unique features of Bodrum as a holiday resort is that, in addition to the active recreational opportunities available by day and the unequaled Bodrum nightlife, so many more tranquil bays, beaches and villages are available to enjoy.
No other area on the Turkish Aegean coast provides you with the opportunity to experience traditional Turkish life only a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of a modern tourist center.
Bodrum town is a very popular resort, both among Turkish and foreign travelers. It has a blend of native and cosmopolitan culture. As well as taking in the sunshine and enjoying the spectacular views around the peninsula, you will find sports and activities, sight seeing and excursions and if you like to chill out and unwind you can visit one of the luxurious spas or traditional Turkish baths for some rest and relaxation time.
Small boutiques offer the latest hits, crafted hand-made sandals, fezzes and harem slippers as well as baseball caps and T-shirts bearing universally recognized logos. Cafes and restaurants serve a wide variety of cosmopolitan 'international' food as well as tasty Turkish kebabs, Chinese, Mexican, Indian or Thai specialties. Visitors often 'go native' by replacing beer or wine with the national Turkish drink known as ‘raki’.
For those who like to be really adventurous, there are jet skis or you might even fancy parasailing. Jeep-Safaris are offered by many companies as well as scuba diving.
Bodrum is fast becoming a popular resort too with golf enthusiasts, having one golf club already up and running in Ortakent and a luxury golf resort due to open in 2008 near Tuzla.
